Welcome
Hello and welcome to my blog. If you have landed here you are likely interested in therapy for yourself or someone you love, already work with me, or are a professional learning about my practice. Whoever you are and however you stumbled upon my small little corner of the internet, I’m glad you’re here!
I created Canetta Psychotherapy in 2022 to broaden my ability to provide high quality treatment to as many people as possible. Over the years I have expanded my practice to serving teens ages 16+. I have incorporated in the Level of Care Assessment, taking my decade plus of experience in all levels of care and formalizing the process of conceptualization for not only my patients but also for those who may not be ready for therapy or are just questioning what care would be best for them. This has helped people navigate the often confusing and unclear process of determining treatment options and finding providers who can meet their needs. My practice’s virtual format has made it so that people who would have never accessed treatment, have the option to receive the quality care they deserve.
I am a therapist who believes in the intrinsic value of people and their ability to not only survive difficult circumstances but to heal from them. I guess thats why I decided to specialize in working with people with trauma and addiction— you’ll be hard pressed to find people with more resilience and bravery than people with these life experiences. They are often times also those who are marginalized and disenfranchised by people in our world. I hope that you come to learn my immense respect for the struggling of others and personal determination to help them access the life they deserve.
I also believe that knowledge is powerful, transformative, and motivating. In therapy, I share the “why” and “how” behind the interventions I provide. I want you to know that you and the unique factors that make you who you are, are being thoughtfully considered in every decision I make.
I hope to continue these beliefs forward in this blog. As it continues to develop, I expect that I will find a rhythm and a focus for posts— as I wade into these waters, I am grateful for your patience and excited to grow together. This blog will focus on education, my perspective on all things mental health, sharing resources, and breaking the stigma of mental illness, focusing rather on the humans behind the labels.
Thank you again for being here and I hope you continue to return to see how this blog evolves.
Best,
Dr. Canetta
